Canary Islands Joins Observatory Network as Members Unite to Provide Data for Tourism’s Recovery
The Canary Islands has been confirmed as the latest member of the growing International Network of Sustainable Tourism Observatories (INSTO), overseeing the responsible development of tourism worldwide. The announcement came as INSTO, an initiative of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) held its annual meeting, bringing together key stakeholders from both the public and private sectors.

UNWTO Observatories hold annual meeting & welcome 5 new members
The UNWTO International Network of Sustainable Tourism Observatories held its annual global meeting on 22/23 October 2019, welcoming more than 100 experts to discuss the latest advances in tourism impact monitoring at the destination level. During the meeting, the five new INSTO members of 2019 were welcomed: The Navarre Tourism Observatory (Spain), The Antigua Guatemala Sustainable Tourism Observatory (Guatemala), the Tourism Observatory of the City of Buenos Aires (Argentina), the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Observatory (BC, Canada), and Australia's South West Tourism Observatory (Australia).

Australia’s South West Sustainable Tourism Observatory Joins the UNWTO Observatory NETWORK (INSTO)
Australia’s South West Sustainable Tourism Observatory, has officially become the latest member of the World Tourism Organization’s International Network of Sustainable Tourism Observatories (INSTO). The Observatory will work to monitor tourism in the south-west region of Australia and help guide its sustainable development.

The Observatory is the 26th member of the global network which is committed to the systematic collection of data on the impacts of tourism at the destination level.

UNWTO's International Network of Sustainable Tourism Observatories (INSTO) welcomes the Navarre Tourism Observatory as its 25th member. UNWTO International Network of Sustainable Tourism Observatories annual meeting discusses how to measure tourism impacts at the local level
UNWTO convened observatories from around the world to discuss advances in effectively monitoring sustainability in tourism at destination level. The 2017 Global International Network of Sustainable Tourism Observatories (INSTO) Meeting was held on the 13th and 14th of December at UNWTO Headquarters in Madrid.
